Epic. It’s a word that gets tossed around a lot, to the point that it loses it’s meaning. But I think the use is appropriate here—in reference to the above clips from the April 10 Portland show.
I’ll save the analysis for the music critics. These songs speak for themselves. I dare say they remind me of Cream’s Tales of Brave Ulysses or Zeppelin’s Achilles Last Stand, sans all the pomp and circumstance. Both The Ledge and Left of the Dial are also personal, with an incomparable urgency that bores right into your heart. And to me, neither Jack Bruce & Co nor Plant, Page & Co could really do that.
